The Regent Cut Diamond is designed to give the brilliance of a round diamond in a square shape, while offering perfect symmetry.
It is named after the Regent diamond, which was part of the French Crown jewels. It is the only square shaped diamond made to hearts and arrows standards.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND CUTTING ISSUES
There are 66 facets on the Regent Cut diamond: 41 on the crown and 25 on the pavilion.
The color grades of the stones range from D to J, with clarities from IF to SI. To date, it has been made in weights from .40 to 3 carats. Table sizes range from 58 to 63 percent. Total depth range is roughly 62 percent.
Regent Cut diamonds are inscribed with their brand name and a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certification number. Personal inscriptions can be engraved on the other two sides of the girdle.
Diamond Fact
Black diamonds are opaque and although they do not show the fire normally valued in diamonds, they are still desirable. The color is caused by inclusions of graphite within the crystal. The graphite inclusions cause the diamond to be a conductor. Diamond and graphite are both made of carbon - the carbon atoms are just bonded differently.
