The Heart-Shaped Brilliant is the technical name for this diamond based upon its shape and modifications of the traditional round brilliant cut diamond configuration.

PHYSICAL AND CUTTING ISSUES
Ideally, a heart shape's length to-width ratio is slightly over 1: 1, approximately 1.1: 1 in favor of length, but not over 1.2: 1.

As with fancy diamond shapes in general, cutting parameters are for the most part determined by the shape and nature of the rough.

Diamond Cutters are sometimes motivated to cut a heart shape when a large inclusion in a particular location must be removed. By orienting that inclusion to the heart's cleft, maximum weight retention can be achieved. Heart-Shaped Brilliant Diamonds typically contain 59 facets.
