But you can't truly appreciate its magnitude until you're standing out the window from the 82nd floor.

If I Can't See The Difference In a Diamond, Should I Pay For It
If a diamond has flaws that are invisible to the naked eye, but it reflects the light beautifully, go for it. You could very easily overpay for perfection that's not nearly as stunning.
We're Talking : Heavy Metal
If you're buying a diamond ring, you'll need a quality band.
Elsa's advice? Go platinum. It's hypoallergenic, timeless and impressive. The price difference over gold is usually just a few hundred dollars. In the grand scheme of things, this isn't the place to skimp. (Unless of course, you prefer Gold.)
Get The Most For Your Money - You Deserve It.
There is no substitute for the personal attention you receive at Elsa Jewelry. An expert can show and tell you all the possibilities.
Never fear: Personal consultations (through e-mail, the internet and phone) from Elsa Jewelry add value, not cost. In fact, we give you more for your money - at every turn.
Setting the stone, sizing, cleaning and a lifetime of service all come standard at Elsarings.com - along with superior craftsmanship and the confidence you're getting a brilliant return on your investment.
What Can You Expect From Your Budget
In any budget range, you'll have plenty of options. The quality and size of the stone, as well as the settings, determine the price. Use this chart as a rough guideline for what to expect.
0.5ct from $1,000 to $2,000
0.75ct from $2,000 to $3,500
1.0ct from 3,500 to $7,000
1.5ct from $7,000 to $15,000
2.0ct from $10,000 to $25,000
**NOTE: If you know you have $1500.00 or less to spend on an engagement ring, you may want to consider small, solitaire diamonds - "Pave"
How Can I Determine If A Ring Is High Quality
You need to protect yourself from buying poorly made jewelry or cubics substituted as diamonds. How do you tell if something is high quality? What do you look for?
Here are some helpful tips and hopefully, these will help you avoid some of the more common pitfalls:
Channel Settings
Channel settings are one of the most misused settings in the industry. Be certain that there is a real channel that the stones are set in -- rather than an impression with a thin additional bit of metal holding the stone in place.
When there is a real channel, the stones will not come out under normal wear.
Metal Quality
Finely made rings have a quality mark imprinted on the inside. Examples of such etched markings are: 14K for 14 Kt gold, 925 for sterling silver, and 950 Pt (or 850 Pt) for platinum.
While we prefer 18 Kt gold, others prefer platinum, 14 Kt gold or sterling silver. 24 Kt gold is considered too soft. Platinum tends to show very little wear as it is more durable than gold.
High quality rings can be re-polished by a jeweler if they get scratched.
How Clear is the Diamond?
Clarity ranges from flawless (perfect) to I (included). Here is a quick chart:
Flawless: perfect inside and out
Internally Flawless: may have minor blemishes on the outside
VVS1, VVS2: have very very small inclusions. VVS1 inclusions can only be seen through the pavilion. VVS2 inclusions are more visible.
VS1, VS2: have very small inclusions. VS1 inclusions are harder to see than VS2.
SI1, SI2, SI3: have small inclusions
I1, I2, I3: have inclusions visible to the naked eye
